With flexible engagements ranging from two hours per month to two hours per week, we can utilize your availability for maximum impact. You can help develop ministry leaders and connect them to solutions.

WHY SERVE AS A MENTOR?

MDI believes that God has strategically placed ministry leaders around the world to care for others.  These leaders face unique challenges, and often have few or none in their lives that understand the intricacies of leadership, ministry, family, personal and spiritual life - and how they’re all intertwined.  With these unique stressors comes high levels of burnout.  As mentors, we have the opportunity to see leaders grow in their skills, increase in confidence and more effectively carry out their God-given mission.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

IMC

We begin with an Integrated Mentoring and Consulting (IMC) methodology that allows us to serve the individual leader, the ministry and interconnection of presenting issues in both.  Through a determined engagement cycle, mentor teams help leaders to develop within one or more of the six core competencies of ministry - leadership, strategy, board development, operations, fundraising strategy and program development.

Mentors are matched with ministry leaders according to their skill sets, interests and availability; and equipped with proven ministry tools to build a well-run ministry and help ensure ministry leaders are thriving.

MENTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Building a confidential, trusting and Spirit-led relationship 

  • Encouraging and challenging leaders in individual leadership and ministry growth

  • Offering tools, resources and ideas to set goals and solve problems

  • Providing clear, judgment free and positive feedback

  • Participate in MDI mentor orientation and core competency training

MENTOR PROFILE:

  • Demonstrates a personal faith and love for the body of Christ

  • Committed to the importance of the leader/mentor relationship and the determined client engagement schedule

  • Committed to MDI’s IMC and DNA process and value system

  • Maintains confidentiality and personal discretion within the relationship and ministry information

  • Serves as a compassionate listener and effective communicator

  • Serves as a collaborative team player with co-mentors and leaders
